Finally, some news many reading teachers have been waiting for:

These books (books 1, 2 and 3) have been officially leveled by using the Fountas and Pinnell Text Level Gradient System.”*

This means Tay books 1,2, and 3 were sent through an extensive evaluation by a team of experts using the Fountas and Pinnell standards for leveling. These standards determine which reading level or age group a book is suited for. Although the ultimate goal is to encourage lifelong reading, teachers still like the assurance that they’re matching readers to books that will give them optimal success when students read independently. Knowledge of reading level or “text level difficulty” helps them fulfill this goal.

Happily, Tay Goes to Chess, Tay Goes to the Game and Tay and the Hot Dayare all beginning first grade appropriate and Fountas and Pinnell level E. The seal will appear on the back covers of newly ordered books!! Books four and five will also go through the leveling process.

As always, I am most grateful for the many family and friends who value the work Me On the Page is creating. Our true desire is that students say: “I see me on the page!

*Please note Tay Books 1, 2 and 3 were leveled by  Fountas and Pinnell’ s leveling system, but are in no way connected to Fountas and Pinnell or Heinemann Publishing.
